Testimonials
Lucy is both an incredible teacher and truly great friend. She nurtures her students as they grow and shared her joy for dance with me from a such young age. I love it and I believe Lucy has a huge part to play in that! Her support is constant and I am so grateful to have someone rooting for me as I continue my vocational training abroad.
- Norah Jeffery, currently training at the Royal Conservatoire of ScotlandLucy is a phenomenal teacher, She truly cares for all aspects of her students well-being. Lucy has created a safe environment which certainly helped me to express my creativity and push myself to constantly improve and grow. Lucy has extensive knowledge which she continues to develop, to ensure that her students have the best information about how to train effectively and safely. I was so lucky to have had expert technical training at Lucy’s, that was complimented by RAD examinations which helped with a clear indicator of continuous improvement. As a student I had so many opportunities such as summer camps, performance projects, guest workshops and annual performances arranged by Lucy that allowed me to go into professional training with confidence in my ability. I’ll never forget Lucy saying that we should never say we “can’t” do something, it is that mindset that truly has allowed me to pursue a career within the performing arts industry. I am so lucky to have had such exceptional support and I am inspired by her work. As a former helper, I have seen the attention and care that each child/teen is given no matter what their ability.
- Kate O’Driscoll, graduated in 2021 from Stella Mann College of Performing Arts in Bedford, UK“I started Hip-Hop when the school first opened in the yoga centre. This was my first time going to a dance class and I didn’t know what to expect. I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences I’ve had.
Lucy was great at teaching and she always made the class so much fun. I found that the dance classes and the dance show helped improve my confidence. I never thought I’d be able to dance on a stage with a big audience watching but Lucy gave us the confidence to do this. I stayed in the school for four years, until I had to leave for college. I am now studying Zoology in UCC. I have gone to dance classes there but nothing compares to Lucy’s class. She is the best dance teacher you could have. I will always remember the great times we had in Lucy’s class.”
- Emma O’Donnell“I attended Lucy’s ballet class with hardly any prior dance experience. I learned so much from Lucy and she was always so kind, patient and helpful to me, even with my lack of experience. Her classes were always so much fun to take part in and it was so wonderful to be able to participate in the end of term recital. She’s just an all round incredible dance teacher!”
- Zoe Greenway“I was a part of The Lucy French School of Dance for two years. At first I was a bit worried about joining a dance group that were such good friends, but I was immediately welcomed. I had such a lovely two years dancing with Lucy, she created a fun and relaxed atmosphere but we always go our work done. Now I’m doing biological and chemical science in ucc and hope to continue dancing with my college.”

I attended this school for nine years and I learned so much more than dance. Lucy, Sarah and all the wonderful teachers I’ve had over the years taught me to be hardworking, kind passionate. I will forever treasure the time I spent there.
- Orlagh O’ReganLucy and Lucy French School of Dance were a huge, stable part of my childhood, through leaving primary school, through my Junior Cert, all the way to my Leaving Cert. I did weekly Jazz classes and it was something to look forward to every week during stressful times in school and growing up. I learnt so much more than just dance in the School, I learnt discipline, created life-long friendships and found a passion for creativity. I graduated from LFSOD 5 years ago and I still miss my old dance classes! Kinsale is so lucky to have Lucy and LFSOD and I am forever grateful for my experience.
- Ciara Gimblett“I began dancing with the Lucy French School of Dance in 2008 which is the first year the school opened. Straight away I fell in love with all the school had to offer including great dance routines, fantastic friendships and above all, an amazing teacher! Lucy puts her heart 100% into all the work she does for this school and it is clearly evident when one sees just how much it has expanded over the years! The memories that I have taken with me from my time at the school are ones that positively frame my childhood and the confidence and support that Lucy provides to all her students has most definitely stood to me throughout my college years. I would recommend this school to anyone whose child is interested in dance because they will receive competent learning in dance delivered in a fun and incredibly approachable way. Furthermore, the experience of performing in a dance show amongst great friends is not to be missed!!”
- Rachel Walsh“I danced with Lucy’s Senior Hip Hop class for two years and loved it so much.I have helped out at the show for the past three years! The school really became part of the community and offers a great selection from Hip Hop to Jazz. Whilst the show is probably the highlight of the year with costumes and performing in front of family and friends, the weekly classes offer an equal amount of fun and exercise plus the opportunity to make lots of new friends!!”
- Roisin Daly“It didn’t matter how annoying school was or how stressful the Leaving Cert was I always looked forward to Lucy’s classes. Lucy always balanced proper method and training with loads of fun perfectly! I wish I could still go to hip hop every Thursday.”
